The National Instruments Engineering Leadership Program (ELP) is designed for new engineering college graduates with strong leadership qualities who are interested in developing their careers in NI.

The Engineering Leadership Program is a graduate program that focuses on the following components: A Foundations onboarding program, one or more job rotations and a leadership development curriculum. Throughout the program you will work with an ELP Program Manager to identify development plans and career options for you long term at National Instruments.

The Foundations program equips every ELP employee with skills and knowledge to be successful as a leader at National Instruments in any career path by incorporating a best-in-class blend of training, coaching, and on-the-job experiences. To best achieve the learning objectives, your primary work activities during the first six months will be providing technical support to NI’s customers.

After Foundations, your responsibilities will be determined by the functional rotation in which you participate. Functional rotations could include technical support, sales and marketing career paths.


The Role

As a Graduate on the 24-month-program you will support the business and learn about the company, products and customers we support. The program starts with foundations program of training on NI products, solutions, approaches. Additionally, you will have development activities for your professional and interpersonal development. During this time, you will have full support from your manager and team leader as well as current graduates on the program.

You will typically start off your time in to deliver support to our customers who are using NI products. This could be telephone or email support and isn’t your standard ‘help desk’ approach – instead we pride ourselves in working in partnership with our customers, acting in a consultative way to understand and advise them utilizing out technical knowhow.

In the next step, you will start dealing with Inside Sales Activities, too. This is a unique insight into how we build up our customer base as well as work with existing customers on their on-going needs and requirements. In this complex role you will be utilizing your technical knowledge of NI products and reaching out to customers to help them to find the best solution to their challenging problems.


Personal and Professional Development

You will be provided with regular support and ongoing development activities which enable you to work and reflect on your personal development throughout the ELP program. A lot of your learning will also be on the job training where you will learn key skills in technical pre- and post-sales support as well as understanding customer requirements and developing proofs of concepts. There are also Group projects to get involved in which will give you an insight into the products we offer and how they can be used in exciting and innovative ways.
